Meet Mary Klein

Mary’s love of fashion developed at a very young age, having travelled extensively around the world in a military family. She studied the clothes and outfits from the various places she visited, influencing her eclectic, forward thinking, edgy and open-minded view on style today. While travelling played a big part in Mary’s admiration for fashion, her true inspiration and first style icon was her Korean born mother, a hip woman sporting big cat sunglasses and cool handbags. “I learned from my mother that there is power in first impressions,” Mary states. After graduating high school and departing the influence of her parents, Mary headed to “The Fashion Capital of the World” of New York City to pursue a career in the arts. Shortly thereafter, she started working at a hip boutique in Greenwich Village where she coached her customers on “what” and “how to wear” clothing. It was here she realized she was meant to be a stylist. “In high school my personal style was heavily influenced by R&B,” said Mary. “But when I got to NYC it was more of a mix between Madonna, Pat Benatar and The Sex Pistols. My time in NYC really shaped my current signature style. It’s classic with a twist; it’s glamour with a bit of an edge.” After NYC, she spent time in Berlin and Rome, and then settled in the seaside town of Laguna Beach working at a chic and trendy clothing shop. She then landed a job at Barneys New York in South Coast Plaza and later went on to study at The Studio Make-Up Academy in Hollywood. “I sold my customers clothes that made them feel beautiful. It was about trust and establishing relationships. That is why I loved my job,” Mary states. What’s her number one style tip? “Wear it with confidence!” After many years in retail, Mary decided to establish her own company creating a blog and social media accounts under the name “Haute Everything”. Her following grew, and Mary is now a full-time stylist and image consultant in Orange County. Her mission is to provide guidance for women to look and feel their best by helping them select the right clothes specifically for their style and body type. “I am not about emptying out my client’s closets and starting from scratch,” noted Mary. “My goal is to encourage clients to add to what they currently have, with pieces that might be a bit more out of their comfort zone, a little more edgy, and a lot more fun.” Mary currently resides in Newport Coast with her husband (who she met, as fate would have it, at South Coast Plaza!), her twin teenage boys and puppy. # # #
