Fur or no fur... that is the question.

Did you hear that Gucci will not be using fur beginning with its 2018 spring line?

New York is the fashion capital of America, with record cold temperatures, and fashionistas are wearing their furs. But there are those who don't believe in wearing fur and are wearing down coats. 

It’s a tough call if you're in the fashion industry and/or a fashion designer. 

Gucci is calling it quits to fur for 2018, but will the other fashion houses follow suit? Will they stop using leather like Stella McCartney, John Bartlett, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger just to name a few. One other big name to stop stocking fur items is the on-line retailer Net-a-Porter. 

In today's day and age, there is a lot to be conscious about. I've written about fast fashion in one of my posts. I also read somewhere that we throw out four million pounds of wrapping paper each holiday season. We wear leather, we wear silk, we buy clothes that come from countries where the conditions are despicable. 

When it comes to fashion, it's sometimes hard to make good ethical choices when there are so many temptations. For those who don’t want to wear real fur, faux fur is coming on strong. It looks real and feels real. I have seen some really cool faux furs at a fraction of the cost.  

In the world of fashion, it’s a tough decision but we all have that freedom of choice and that is a beautiful thing.
