DID SOMEONE SAY IT WAS SEPTEMBER ....

With the heat index usually in the 100s this time of year, it's difficult to be thinking about coats, boots and leather pants. I can't believe we are in September, and I missed my August blog deadline. Now's the time I usually come out of hibernation from summer, and I'm able to focus on my greatest obsession - fall.

I know how hard it is to try on clothes in the heat of a Southern California fall, but you should get a head start at the beginning of the season. Once it starts to cool down in California, you are not going to see a lot of inventory. Most of the world is now starting to get colder and if you shop online, you'll see your favorite boots and coats being shipped off to the East Coast.

I've learned over the years that if you love something, don't hesitate to buy it. You can usually return it if it's not right, but gone is gone for good.

The stores do not buy a lot of fall and winter inventory, and the clothes tend to be priced higher. Fall/winter fabrics are more luxurious and hence more expensive.

What's hot? When I was in Paris I saw a lot of army green. I love army green, and since i was an army brat, it has a big place in my heart. I even wrote about wearing army greens in one of my earlier posts.

I also saw a lot of sequins - a must-add for your wardrobe. There are a lot of options and not all are over the top as you might think. It's very feminine and a show stopper. You'll be seeing lots of silver and gold as well. Don't be afraid to wear both together. We aren't our grandmas.

Street chic is on the scene with leggings of all types - lacy, shiny, fishnet, ribbed - worn under your ripped jeans shorts, or a dress along with combat or cowboy boots and a sweater, hoodie and/or biker jacket.

NYFW!! Keep an eye out for what's coming in Spring/Summer 18.

I see a lot of color blocking. Pastels and florals are still going strong.
