PINK EYE

I've got a bad case of pink eye. It’s highly contagious, but I'm happy I caught it. Pink is everywhere this spring and the outbreak is widespread.

There’s a new slogan going around ...“Pink Is the New Punk”. I had to read up on it because your guess is as good as mine. It has nothing to do with fashion. Huffington Post called it a soft rebellion. It’s a movement for shifting the focus from hard values to soft ones, from money and power to kindness and empathy.

The way I read “Pink Is Punk” was in terms of fashion. When I lived in NYC in 1985, pink was big.

Maybe pink was big before that but my memory takes me back when you could wear pink preppy but also wear it punk like Siouxie Sioux and Debbie Harry. You can call it the softer side of rebellion.

My style advice this spring is buy something pink this season and add it to your wardrobe to keep it fresh and up to date. The color pink is also supposed to give you a calm feeling, so if you're wearing it, everyone will see you and keep calm. And do wear wear pink with red - it’s chic and cool.

Also, I am seeing a lot rainbow clothing and shoes, and I'm loving that, too. I mostly wear black, but I love a fun pop of color in my wardrobe. Usually my shoes.

Did anyone see the Balmain runway show? The fabric was spectacular. Was the white rubber-looking outfit leather or rubber? They can manipulate fabric to look like anything these days. I can’t afford Balmain, but I can really can appreciate it.

Think Pink!
