STARS AND STRIPES

I am crazy for a tuxedo stripe pant. Usually they are your traditional black pants with a white stripe on the side. Now we are seeing a wide variety of tuxedo-style pants in denim or leather with a skinny or wide leg - nothing typical about tuxedo pants anymore.

Some of my recent purchases include blue tuxedo pants with red stripes and also black with white stripes from Mother Denim. Mother Jeans are on fire this season!

Another stripe classic that I'm seeing all over the place is the reinvention of the Adidas white stripe trackie.

Wearing an Adidas stripe pant with a Gucci or Christian Dior shoe is hot. I like to break up the set - try a silver metallic jogger pant, a white wife beater with the black adidas jacket and sneakers... or a gold or bronze metallic jacket with the red trackie pants and a pump. So modern and cool.

Another stripe hit this spring/summer is the men's blue stripe shirt. Off the shoulder is still trending and a ruffled blue stripe shirt feminizes the look but still has a crisp and clean feel. A blue stripe long dress is a great purchase for your summer vacation anywhere. Accessorize with a wide western belt like you just won first place at the rodeo or a corset belt from Isabel Marant to accentuate that waist. I also like the maxi stripe dress with flats. Pair with a short leather or denim jacket for those cooler evenings.

The stars are out at night and day. Who doesn't want to be or look like a star and you should. Someone brought the stars down to earth and put them on your sneakers, your pants, jackets and accessories. If you don't own anything with a star on it, go find some star patches at a fabric store or order patches online (check out Polyvore and Etsy) and put them on something you haven't worn in a while to make it new again - because you were born to be a star!
